On the 19th November, the University of Cyprus – KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence hosted a delegation of Connect Europe .
It was a great opportunity to exchange views with several European telecom industry representatives part of the Connect Europe delegation visiting Cyprus and to showcase our work in 6G-VERSUS, where KIOS CoE participates as pilot co-leader for the Bulgarian pilot. A key point of discussion was the monetization of Beyond-5G / 6G services and how emerging use cases can translate into sustainable business models for telecom operators.
The importance of monitoring Renewable Energy Sources (RES) production even below 1MW, which is currently outside systematic monitoring, was also highlighted.
This became particularly relevant in the context of the recent Iberian Peninsula blackout, underlining the need for improved visibility and control at the distribution level as part of Europe’s resilience strategy.
