6G-VERSUS Presented at “Mission Ocean” Event in Aveiro, Portugal

On 20 January, 6G-VERSUS was presented at an event in Aveiro, Portugal, dedicated to exploring the role of the EU Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters” in supporting the business community and promoting nature-based solutions for ports.

The event, titled “The Role of Mission Ocean to Support the Business Community: Nature-based Solutions for Ports”, was hosted by Administração do Porto de Aveiro (APA), a partner actively engaged in initiatives aligned with the EU Mission Ocean objectives.

The European Commission was represented by Ms. Andreea Strachinescu, Head of the Research, Innovation and Investments in the Marine and Maritime Sectors Unit at the Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. The event brought together members of the Port Community, fostering discussion among diverse stakeholders and reflecting the heterogeneity of perspectives, priorities, and approaches within the ports ecosystem.

During the event, Paulo Martins from JSIO presented the scope and pre-trialing activities carried out within the 6G-VERSUS project in the Portuguese cluster. The presentation focused on advanced monitoring of water quality and marine litter through the use of B5G and 6G technologies. These activities are being implemented in collaboration with Onesource, ITAv, and IPN, contributing to innovation-driven environmental sustainability in port environments.
