6G-VERSUS Pre-Trials for Spanish Pilot at University of Malaga

On February 2nd 2026, the Spanish pilot partners held the first pre-trial of the 6G-VERSUS Spanish Pilot at the Ada Byron Building, ITIS UMA. This initial session served as a lab-based pre-trial, where partners shared the current status of developments and ongoing activities led by University of Malaga and Keysight Technologies, offering participants an early look at the technologies and experimentation framework that will support the upcoming trials.

Around 20 visitors joined the event and provided very positive feedback. The audience included:

– Researchers from groups outside the project, but closely related to water and agriculture use cases
– Students specializing in communication technologies

The event started with an introduction to the 6G-VERSUS project and the Spanish cluster activities, delivered by Francisco Javier Rivas (UMA).

Then the partners proceeded to a series of live demonstrations showcasing key technical components:

✔️Core Network & User Equipment energy profiling – Haoxin Sun (Keysight)
✔️P4 UPF SDN implementation – Rafael Manuel García Arévalo (UMA)
✔️Integrated Communication & Sensing – Pablo Herrera Díaz (UMA)
✔️Multiconnectivity for drone control – Delia Rico, Ph.D. (UMA)
✔️Robotic arm integration – Francisco Luque Schempp (UMA)

It was great to see strong engagement and cross-disciplinary interest, reinforcing the relevance of 6G technologies for smart water management and agriculture scenarios. Upcoming related events in La Mayora agriculture farm and in Roquetas water treatment plant are expected to happen in the coming month.
