On the 20-22 of August The University of Bradford and Kingston University presented their conference paper, “Civic-Integrated Sustainability Assessment of Sixth Generation Technology Innovation: Case of the 6G VERSUS,” at the America’s Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS) 2026 which was held at Nevada, USA.
The paper highlights the importance of civic integration in the sustainability assessment of emerging technology innovations, with reference to the 6G VERSUS project.
It explores how civic perspectives and engagement can contribute to more inclusive, responsible, and sustainability-oriented approaches to assessing sixth generation (6G) technology innovation.
Dr Kamran Mahroof presented the paper in the Inclusive, Intelligent & Responsible Digital Public Infrastructure (IIR-DP) track at AMCIS 2026 and the paper was selected to the top 25% papers of the AMCIS 2026.
The presentation contributes to ongoing discussions around responsible digital innovation and the role of civic participation in shaping sustainable and inclusive future technologies.
Beyond conference dissemination, the University of Bradford conducted two workshops at the University of Nevada, Reno, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, to share the sustainability assessment frameworks developed through the 6G projects and seek feedback from an international academic audience.
These workshops provided a valuable opportunity to critically examine the frameworks from different institutional and contextual perspectives. The discussions also helped assess whether the frameworks adequately capture the complexity of value creation across different technologies, organisational settings, and wider ecosystem contexts.
The feedback and insights gained through these international engagements will contribute to further refining and strengthening the frameworks, while enhancing their potential applicability beyond the immediate project context.Link to the event: https://amcis2026.aisconferences.org/
