On 31 August 2026, Dr. Irina Ciornei from the University of Cyprus (UCY) presented key outcomes from the first phase of 6G-VERSUS trials during the SNS JU/6G-IA Trials Working Group meeting.
The presentation, entitled “Key Outcomes from the 1st Phase Trials,” provided an overview of the 6G-VERSUS approach to sustainability and shared results and lessons learnt from the project’s first phase of experimentation. The presentation covered how sustainability impact is created and assessed within the project’s vertical trials, as well as the evidence gathered through KPIs, KVIs, telemetry and stakeholder feedback.
A central focus was the experience gained across the project’s six large-scale end-to-end pilots, addressing five vertical domains and seven real-life sustainability use cases. These include renewable energy systems in Finland and Bulgaria, collaborative robotics for search and rescue in Greece, smart agriculture in Spain, sustainable and safe port infrastructures in Portugal, and water management in France.
The first phase generated important lessons for the project’s next steps. The results also reinforced the importance of combining technical performance measurements with stakeholder feedback and of co-designing communication, energy and vertical systems to maximise sustainability gains.
Through its participation in the SNS JU/6G-IA Trials Working Group, 6G-VERSUS continues to share its trial experiences and lessons learnt with the wider European 6G community, contributing practical evidence on how next-generation connectivity can support more sustainable vertical industries.
